Birmingham Unitarian Church is undergoing a significant remodeling and renovation project.  The original facilities were designed by Minauro Yamasaki in 1956 as an open campus collection of buildings.  We are pleased to be working on this campus again, having completed the sanctuary addition in 1996. The current project includes remodel and redesign of the main entrance and lobby areas into an open engaging space. Interior spaces – social hall, restrooms, meeting rooms, classrooms –  have been remodeled with new flooring, paint, lighting. Barrier free access now connects all buildings on campus.  Improvements to parking, driveways, sidewalks and landscape have been completed.  Throughout the project, there has been a strong underlying emphasis on green principles and initiatives. 

Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church planned to improve their facility complex in a phased approach. Phase I renovations/additions included new administration offices, meeting rooms, chapel area and classrooms for religious education. Phase II encompassed the remodeling of church sanctuary, entrance/gathering area, and church support spaces. Elements included new pews, new flooring, new altar area, enhanced entrance and gathering space, upgraded lighting, sound and HVAC systems. The high-end finishes and oak paneling throughout the sanctuary and entrance area make this a stunning modernized place of worship. Phase I was valued at $2.2 million and Phase II at $1.7 million.

Glen Eden Memorial Park continues to be a valued, long-term client of McCarthy & Smith.  Glen Eden Memorial Park East in Macomb Twp was newly constructed in 2004.   The project included a 650-crypt mausoleum, administration building, and chapel  with extensive site work at a $3.9 million value.  At Glen Eden Memorial Park West, projects have included a new mausoleum, new garden columbarium, entrance enhancements, building roof replacement, site development, parking improvements.  Construction services for these projects included value engineering, cost estimating, managing the bid process, and supervising all on-site construction activities from concept through completion.
