The Country Club of Detroit underwent a $6.3 million renovation of a 1927 clubhouse wing that was originally designed as a natatorium. In 1938, the pool area was covered with bowling lanes and since then was used exclusively as a bowling area.  The recent renovation was a comprehensive project to demolish and remove the swimming pool structure, underpin the support structure, dig four feet deeper for a lower level, construct a new support structure for two levels (plus mezzanine), and build-out the interior space, while maintaining the integrity of the original structure.

New elements of the renovated clubhouse wing include:

• Six-lane bowling center with lounge area, food heating station, and underground vault to hold new state-of-the-art bowling pin equipment
• Expansive fitness area on the first floor with all new equipment
• Exercise space in a mezzanine area used for spinning classes 
• History wing that showcases club artifacts
• New childcare room, new elevator, restroom upgrades, new windows to match the exterior of the 1927 building, and a new entrance into the renovated wing
