F. W. (Bill) McCarthy and Henry B. Smith founded McCarthy & Smith, Inc. in 1965. The original office was located on Faust St. in Detroit . In 1975, Bill McCarthy became sole owner. The company moved its office to Redford in 1988, and then to Farmington Hills in April 2002. The company remains family-owned with firm officers William T. McCarthy as president, Eileen M. McCarthy as vice president, and Deborah A. McCarthy as secretary/treasurer.
